Up and Running?

In Uncategorized on 2-March-2010 at 3:39 PM

Been trying to get this blog up and running. I have come to the conclusion that I need the real WordPress blog (WordPress.org) as opposed to this free version. The free version does not allow linking to Google docs, where I intent to keep the performance information.

Good news, the Vanguard account is setup and rolling. Asset Allocation is under the portfolio tab.

Check has been sent

Decision has been made and the check has been sent. I went with Vanguard where I picked my own index funds. One disadvantage of Vanguard is the minimum starting balance of $3,000. I wish they would lower that for 529 plans. Starting balance for all three portfolios will be $3,100, thank you grandparents!

Hello world!

I think “Hello world” is appropriate.

In this blog I intend to post the performance of the 529 account I have set up for my daughter. I plan on implementing a traditional asset allocation-style portfolio using index funds. I also plan on “rebalancing” at set time periods.

I will benchmark myself against (1) an actively managed fund and (2) an age-based mutual fund. My plan is to outperform each. We will see how I do.
